Welcome
from our Pastor
As part of the
pastoral staff for Northminster Presbyterian Church,
it is my pleasure to welcome you to our web site and
express to you our congregation's joy that you have
found your way to it. If you are a member of the
Northminster Presbyterian Church family, you will
find this site a rich source of information designed
to help you in your Spiritual growth and your
ability to function effectively and faithfully as a
disciple of Jesus Christ and a member of
Northminster. If you are visiting this web
site for information regarding our Church family for
whatever reason, I hope you will find it
informational and helpful. We are always
filled with joy when our web site visitors get to
know us in this special way.
An ordained
Presbyterian minister for more than 35 years, I have
enjoyed pastorates in Norfolk, Virginia,
Fayetteville, North Carolina, Richmond, Virginia,
Clifton Forge, Virginia, Kingsport, Tennessee and
now here in Sacramento, California. In all of
those congregational settings, the Spiritual growth
and achievements in discipleship on the part of the
flocks I have tended for the Lord Jesus Christ have
been my primary emphasis and concern. It is so
wonderful to see a fellow Christian grow in their
faith both in the knowledge elements of that growth
and also the application elements. The Lord
gives us many gifts and the application of those
gifts in His service is the key to what it means to
belong to Him. A close personal relationship
with Jesus Christ and a life filled with love and
service are some of the hallmarks of what it means
to be Christian in any day and time and especially
ours. I enjoy my own relationship with Jesus
and attempt to live my life in such a way that He is
uplifted and glorified and it is a wonderful feeling
to be associated with others through the years and
here in Sacramento who share the same goal. In
this way we all help each other to be more like
Jesus.
In other places in
this web site, you will be acquainted with all of
the programs, activities and other staff of our
Church. I think the range of activities and
opportunities at Northminster are unusually broad
and deep given our comparatively modest size.
With opportunities to worship, to learn and be
involved in mission, both locally and globally, to
sing and play hand bells, I think you will find
Northminster to be in a position to offer an awful
lot to your Spiritual growth. If you are
looking for a church home, there is a place for you
at Northminster Presbyterian Church.
On the other hand,
this Church family is always open to people coming
to us with specific gifts and interests to share and
our Church life continues to develop because of this
sharing. We also pray for each other and take
good care of each other, if and as pastoral
situations arise. And, of course, pastoral
situations are continually and forever arising.
Our healing service is but one example of our
response, as are our phone calls, cards,
visits and other expressions of love where the
situation arises for us to support and encourage
each other.
So, I could say
more, but I won't. Again, let me welcome you
to our web site and tell you how much I would enjoy
meeting you face to face were the Lord to provide
that opportunity to us. Until then, may the
Lord bless you and keep you.
Yours in Christ,
Pastoral Staff
Northminster Presbyterian
Church
Sacramento, California
